Pankaj Pachauri, an esteemed Indian TV anchor and journalist, has made significant contributions to the media landscape through his insightful reporting and unwavering dedication to journalistic excellence. Born on September 24, 1963, Pachauri has carved out a distinct path in the industry, serving as the founder and editor-in-chief of Gonews, India’s pioneering app-based TV news channel.

Early Career and Innovative Endeavors

Pachauri’s journalistic journey took flight during his 15-year tenure with NDTV, where he showcased his versatility by contributing to various international media outlets, including the BBC, India Today, The Sunday Observer, and The Patriot newspaper. His diverse experience allowed him to explore multifaceted aspects of journalism, earning him widespread respect within the field.

A notable milestone in Pankaj Pachauri’s career was his groundbreaking work in rural reporting. In 1989, he was honoured with ‘The Statesman Award for Rural Reporting’ for his exposé on the disturbing practice of female infanticide in Rajasthan. This recognition underscored his dedication to shedding light on pressing social issues and using journalism as a catalyst for positive societal change.

Strategic Communications and National Impact

In January 2012, Pachauri assumed a pivotal role as the Communications Adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office under Dr Manmohan Singh. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in devising and implementing the PMO’s media strategy for various international events, contributing to enhancing the government’s outreach and engagement across diverse platforms.

Beyond his tenure in the PMO, Pankaj Pachauri remained actively engaged in television debates, offering articulate and informed perspectives on critical national issues. Furthermore, he imparted his insights and expertise to academic institutions such as the esteemed Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, nurturing the next generation of media professionals.

From 2015 to 2016, Pachauri served as the Director at the Jaypee Business School, Noida, demonstrating his commitment to education and mentorship alongside his journalistic pursuits.

Gonews: Innovating News Delivery

Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Pankaj Pachauri founded Gonews, India’s first app-based TV news channel. This innovative venture reflects his dedication to leveraging technology to deliver news in a dynamic and accessible manner, further solidifying his reputation as a trailblazer in Indian journalism.
