Asmita Marwa embarked on her journey in fashion design during the 1990s in Hyderabad. Her early work laid the foundation for her distinctive fusion style. Notably, she became the first designer from Hyderabad to make a significant impact in the Telugu film industry. Renowned actors, including Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Preity Zinta, Tabu, Mahesh Babu, and Anushka, have adorned her creations in films such as “Manmadhudu,” “Premante Idera,” “Pokiri,” and “Gharshana,” leaving an enduring imprint on Telugu cinema.

Trailblazing in Fashion

In December 2003, Asmita Marwa marked a pivotal moment by launching her eponymous fashion label, “Asmita.” The label swiftly gained acclaim and was retailed through her signature store, “Reves d’Etoile.” Apart from her flagship store, her designs found homes in prominent fashion destinations such as “xlnc” in Hyderabad and “Aza Fashions” in Mumbai and Delhi.

Her designs made waves in the fashion arena when featured in the Blenders Pride Fashion Fringe Show in 2004. The year 2008 witnessed her gracing the runway at the esteemed Lakme Fashion Week, showcasing her artistic brilliance to a global audience.

Lakme Fashion Week: A Canvas for Creativity

Participation in the Lakme Fashion Week marked a turning point for Asmita Marwa. Her collections, distinguished for their unique appeal, bore testimony to her creative vision. In 2008, her collection, titled “Gaia-An Awakening,” captivated audiences with its innovative fusion of styles and influences.

Subsequently, in March 2009, she unveiled “Maya and her Jaggery Knots,” her third collection. This extraordinary compilation seamlessly blended diverse elements like Khadi, Antique Banaras textiles, Tartan Checks, Telugu Calligraphy, and giant roses. It showcased her ability to transform traditional Indian textiles into contemporary masterpieces.

Asmita Marwa’s creative prowess extends beyond fashion design. She explored the realm of style journalism for several years, sharing her insights through a style column in the Hyderabad Times.

Her personal life mirrors a harmonious balance between family and career. A devoted mother and spouse, her family life serves as a wellspring of inspiration, fueling her creative endeavours.
