A Nobel Laureate
In 1913, Rabindranath Tagore achieved a remarkable feat by receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature. He stood as the first Indian and Asian to attain this esteemed accolade. Composer of Anthems
Rabindranath Tagore composed the National Anthem of India, “Jana Gana Mana.” The poignant verses were first sung on December 27, 1911, during the Indian National Congress session in Calcutta. Post India’s independence, the initial stanza was adopted as the National Anthem, immortalising Tagore’s contribution.
Anthem for Two Nations
Tagore’s creative influence extended beyond India. He penned the national anthem of Bangladesh, “Amar Shonar Bangla,” in 1905 during the tumultuous partition of Bengal.
