She earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics and telecommunication (E&TC) Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra. Furthering her education at the prestigious XLRI- Xavier School of Management, she graduated as a gold medallist between 1990-1992. The Unilever Legacy

Leena Nair’s illustrious career found its roots at Unilever, where she started as a summer intern and quickly rose to become a management trainee at Hindustan Unilever in 1992. Over the next fifteen years, Nair held diverse roles in factories, sales, and corporate headquarters. In 2007, she assumed the role of Executive Director HR at Hindustan Unilever Limited, marking two decades of dedicated service before relocating to the global headquarters in London.

In 2016, Leena Nair made history as Unilever’s “first female, first Asian, youngest ever” Chief Human Resources Officer, setting the stage for her subsequent accomplishments.

Navigating Chanel into the Future

In December 2021, Leena Nair assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at Chanel, officially taking charge in January 2022. Her tenure has been marked by a hands-on approach, involving visits to over 100 company retail locations, manufacturing sites, and regional offices. Collaborating closely with key figures like Chanel’s creative director, Virginie Viard, Nair has spearheaded successful launches and expansions, notably the eco-focused N°1 de Chanel line.
