Sanghvi’s entrepreneurial journey commenced with the founding of MastHungama.com, a content-based website. Transitioning into corporate roles, he served as a marketing and business development manager at Baazee.com, later eBay India. International opportunities beckoned, leading him to assume roles like business analysis manager at Celanese Chemicals in Dallas and Singapore.

Yet, Sanghvi’s entrepreneurial spirit continued to burgeon. In 2007, he spearheaded a startup in New York City, centred on developing a fitness tracker integrated with a video game—an endeavour bridging technology and wellness.

A Visionary Leap into Beauty

The year 2008 marked Sanghvi’s return to India, catalysing a pivotal juncture in his entrepreneurial trajectory. In 2010, he acquired the master franchise for India of Spa L’Occitane, an esteemed global beauty services brand. This foray into the beauty domain kindled Sanghvi’s passion and unveiled the sector’s vast potential.

Fueled by this revelation, Darpan Sanghvi resolved to chart an entrepreneurial course that would revolutionise beauty and personal care.

Genesis of MyGlamm

In October 2017, Darpan Sanghvi founded MyGlamm, a direct-to-consumer cosmetics enterprise. MyGlamm’s mission was clear: to disrupt the beauty industry by delivering premium products directly to consumers, bypassing traditional distribution channels. The brand swiftly gained traction for its innovative ethos and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.

Birth of Good Glamm Group

Darpan Sanghvi’s vision transcended cosmetics; he envisioned a holistic content-to-commerce ecosystem redefining consumer engagement with beauty and personal care brands. In 2020, Sanghvi strategically acquired POPxo, a women-centric digital media platform founded by Priyanka Gill, signalling a pivotal stride towards actualising his vision.

Subsequently, in August 2021, MyGlamm expanded its purview with the acquisition of BabyChakra, a leading parenting community and platform founded by Naiyya Saggi. The amalgamation of these three entities—MyGlamm, POPxo, and BabyChakra—gave rise to the Good Glamm Group, an entity poised to revolutionise India’s beauty and personal care landscape.

Unicorn Status and Beyond

In a testament to Darpan Sanghvi’s vision and Good Glamm Group’s meteoric ascent, the conglomerate achieved unicorn status in November 2021, boasting a valuation of $1.2 billion. This milestone was accompanied by successful fundraising endeavours, with the conglomerate securing $250 million in Series C and Series D funding rounds, attracting investments from prestigious entities like Accel, Amazon, Ascent Capital, and others.

Good Glamm Group’s pioneering approach to beauty and personal care, coupled with its expansive growth trajectory, established it as South Asia’s inaugural DTC beauty brand unicorn.
