Ashwin Dani’s professional journey began in 1967 as a development chemist with Inmont Corp (now BASF) in Detroit. In 1968, he joined Asian Paints as a senior executive and swiftly climbed the corporate ladder. One of his notable achievements was the establishment of PPG Asian Paints, a joint venture between Asian Paints Limited and PPG Industries, in 1997. He served on its board and played a pivotal role in its inception.

Ashwin Dani’s influence extended beyond Asian Paints. He was a founding member of the Colour Group of India, dedicated to advancing computerised color matching. He also advised the Central Board of Trustees of the Employees Provident Fund and held leadership positions in various industry associations.

He contributed his expertise to the corporate world, serving on the Board & Audit Committee of Sun Pharmaceuticals and the board of ACC Ltd, among others.
